Austin Theory Says His Title Loss Was A “Screw Job”

Austin Theory continues to build his reputation as one of WWE’s rising stars, proving his skills on television week after week.

After winning the U.S Championships, Theory had high hopes of becoming a big star.

However, he surrendered the crown to Rey Mysterio on SmackDown last week, and he now it turns out thinks the loss was silly.

Santos Escobar was scheduled to challenge Austin Theory for the United States Championship on Friday Night SmackDown last week.

However, an injury before the match changed his plans and he was eventually replaced by Rey Mysterio.

The 619 Champion wasted no time establishing an edge while being cheered by LWO and the fans in attendance, defeating Theory to become the new US Champion.

Austin Theory opened up about his loss on the WWE podcast “After the Bell” and said Rey Mysterio had stepped up after April’s match when Theory defeated Mysterio on the night after WrestleMania 39.

Theory will go down in history as one of the longest-reigning U.S. champions, holding the U.S. title for 258 days. We’ll see if he asks for a rematch clause with Rey Mysterio in the near future.

“I kinda see why he stepped up, I hurt his feelings. He’s a little jealous cause I beat him right after WrestleMania.

That victory on Rey, I just beat John Cena, I’m a little sore but I’ll beat another legend.

That’s where my mindset was.Maybe I was a little too relaxed on SmackDown when [the title change] happened.

I still think that was a screw job, but it is what it is.

If anyone was going to beat me, It would have to be somebody like that because nobody can really beat Austin Theory.”

Asuka Drops Cryptic Post On X

Theory held the US Championship for 258 days and will remain in the record books as one of the longest-reigning United States Champions of all time.

We’ll have to see whether he will invoke his rematch clause on Rey Mysterio soon.
