SmackDown General Manager Daniel Bryan has been cleared by multiple doctors yet he is wrestling as WWE-approved doctor Joseph Maroon hasn’t given him the green light.

The Trentonian interviewed Daniel Bryan at Thursday night’s New Jersey Devils game and there is one quote that will get a ton of attention.

In regards to a WWE in-ring return, he said, “I’m trying to get cleared as we speak. All my tests have come back fantastic, better than people who have never had any concussion-type stuff. But it’s a weird thing. We’re in a weird situation politically with the climate around concussions; right now, it’s very difficult. WWE would love to have me back, but is that the smart thing for me as a business to bring me back? If I was to come back, and they let me back, would they get a lot of flak for it? They have a ton of stockholders that they’re responsible for. It’s more than just, ‘Is he healthy to do it?’”

Bryan continued, “There’s more than that to the whole situation. All the concussion doctors think that I’m healthy enough to do it, and that I should be able to do it — well, I don’t want to say all of them, I’m sure there’s somebody out there who doesn’t think that — but there’s a lot more than goes into it than just that. That’s the unfortunate situation with giant corporations and big business in the United States.”

Bryan was forced to retire in 2015 because of his history of concussions but he has expressed his desire to wrestle again after his current WWE contract expires next year. He has been cleared by different doctors but he would need to be cleared by WWE-approved doctor Joseph Maroon if he wants to wrestle again for WWE. His quote about actively trying to get cleared is certainly interesting.

While that is still booting with the WWE Officials, word is that the SmackDown General Manager Daniel Bryan who made an appearance at RAW recently is likely to do a match with his former Tag Team partner, Kane who recently attacked him cruelly resulting in him landing in the hospital.

Otherwise, he’s going to do a match against RAW General Manager Kurt Angle who he recently confronted and said he did not agree with SmackDown Commissioner Shane McMahon leading the “Under Siege” attack last week.

Bryan ended up doing a stretcher job after being attacked by former tag team partner Kane. You can see shots from Bryan’s segment below:
