It was the second squash match of the night at Fastlane. Shortly after Kofi Kingston faced insurmountable odds against The Bar, Becky Lynch went up against Charlotte Flair.
If she were to win the big match, she would be added to the WrestleMania 35 main event. It did not look good for Becky Lynch from the very start.
She arrived on crutches, hobbling and stumbling to the ring. Charlotte Flair worked on Becky Lynch’s leg for the duration of the match, absolutely crippling her. And when it seemed like Charlotte Flair would pick up the win, Ronda Rousey’s music hit.
Rousey arrived at WWE Fastlane 2019 and ensured that Becky Lynch won the match via DQ. Considering how personal things have gotten with Becky Lynch for Ronda Rousey, why did she do this?
I will give you 5 reasons why she has done so.
Ronda Rousey is the one who’s been pushing for Becky Lynch to be added to the WrestleMania 35 main event. This is because things have gotten incredibly personal between the two women involved. In fact, the whole rift between Stephanie McMahon and Ronda Rousey first happened when she demanded that Becky Lynch be added into the match.
Becky Lynch and Ronda Rousey have made things very personal on Twitter over the last few days. The rivalry began around Survivor Series when Becky Lynch invaded the RAW locker room and put away the RAW Women’s Champion. Ronda Rousey wants to destroy Becky Lynch, in storyline, in the ring at WrestleMania 35.
So Ronda Rousey ensured that Becky Lynch would be added into the big match and that she had a turn at Lynch in the ring to inflict severe damage. Now the match is set in stone.

#4 To make Charlotte Flair look strong
There are three women involved in the WrestleMania 35 Main Event match now. Like it or not, Charlotte Flair has been the golden girl for WWE ever since she was brought up from NXT. And unlike Ronda Rousey, Charlotte Flair will be a part of the Women’s Division even after WrestleMania eventually comes around.
The story of this match was that Becky Lynch] would win it and go to WrestleMania at any cost. This is pretty much the main highlight from WWE Fastlane anyway, and the point of the whole pay-per-view, so to speak. Very little else of consequence actually took place during the course of the 5-hour show.
By having Becky Lynch on one leg defeat Charlotte Flair, it would make The Queen look incredibly weak. She would seem like a non-factor in the WrestleMania main event match, devaluing the legendary main event.

#3 Ronda Rousey has been showing heelish tendencies of late
Last week, we saw a major change in attitude for Ronda Rousey at the end of RAW. She took the punishment to Becky Lynch, turned on the WWE Universe, said ‘screw the woo’, stepped out in darker ring gear and even showed a darker and more vicious side to her personality, showcasing heelish tendencies.
And therefore, it made complete sense that Ronda Rousey did not play by the rules on this week’s show. She does not respect the roles and is not the same babyface we all knew and loved once.
In fact, some members of the WWE Universe seem to like this new persona a lot more than they liked her previous avatar. A Ronda Rousey who will do whatever is needed to get her way and ensure all her demands are met.
Things are guaranteed to get very exciting.
#2 The match wasn’t very exciting
There’s only so much one can do in a match if you’re selling a leg. Charlotte Flair attacked the leg and Becky Lynch sold it the best that she could, making it a very unexciting contest. On a night filled with multi-man fast-paced matches, this was a definite low point because of the story it told.
And therefore, it needed Ronda Rousey’s interference to make the match actually memorable. If not, it would have been a by the numbers match that ends with a lucky roll up victory for Becky Lynch. Plus, Ronda Rousey’s interference creates a massive talking point for WWE RAW this week.
We’ve seen Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch tear it up in the past when given the opportunity, most recently at Evolution, and so we know that it wasn’t because of a lack of talent that they didn’t deliver a barn burner. It was the plan all along.
#1 To create tensions between Ronda Rousey & Stephanie McMahon
The first chapter of the story played out at WrestleMania 31 when Ronda Rousey teamed up with The Rock to take on Triple H and Stephanie McMahon. The second chapter was at WrestleMania 34 when she teamed up with Kurt Angle to take on the husband and wife team once again in a show-stealing match.
It is clear that the way tensions are building up between Ronda Rousey and Stephanie McMahon, there is a singles match in store for the two women somewhere down the line, maybe even after Ronda Rousey departs from WWE. It’s a big time match that could even become a future Evolution main event.
Stephanie McMahon never wanted Becky Lynch in the WrestleMania main event picture, in storyline, of course. And this action from Ronda Rousey is certain to tick her off.
And the stage may be set for a singles match someday!
