Negative Effect Of AEW’s Ban On Hulk Hogan – Check

Hulk Hogan banned from AEW. Tony Khan took to social media to reveal that the WWE Hall of Famer will never appear on his show.

The United States of America is currently engulfed in a heightened state of racial tension. The unrest in the nation has seen several people including many celebrities voice their opinion; not all of which have been racially sensitive.

Hulk Hogan’s ex-wife Linda Hogan, took to Twitter to condemning the African American’s for stealing and looting. She wrote:

“watching the looting, it’s all afro Americans, not sure how robbing and stealing set the record straight but if they want to be heard they need to be civilized.”  She has since deleted the tweet.

AEW President and CEO Tony Khan responded to the tweet revealing that both Hulk and Linda Hogan were banned from attending all AEW events.

“You’ve now joined your husband in being banned from all AEW shows. Congratulations,” Khan wrote to Linda.

While not explicit in the same statement, it is likely that Hogan’s ban is due to him making a series of racist comments he made on tape in 2015.

Hogan was fired from the WWE and removed from their Hall of Fame before he was reinstated back in 2018.

It is worth noting that while AEW likes to present itself as WWE’s polar opposite when it comes to diversity and inclusivity, they are yet to make this felt in their weekly programming. Instead they have relied on moments such as these to be emblematic of their mission statement.

Of all the champions crowned in the company, with the exception of women’s champion Hikaru Shida—is white.

However, with the company merely a year old, it is still too soon to determine whether the company will succeed or fail in integrating other talented wrestlers of color.
