WWE superstar, John Cena, who is still recovering from shoulder surgery, has been announced as the host of the ESPY Awards, the 24th edition.

Cena responded to the announcement by saying “It goes without saying it’s a tremendous honor”. He said further that “the prestige of the show grows every year. It’s unbelievable! I obviously accepted, but it doesn’t go without its share of nerves. I just want to do the show justice. I’m going to do my due diligence and hopefully we can have a great show.”

You will recall that the superstar’s great work at the Make-A-Wish Foundation earned him a nomination as the Sports Humanitarian of the Year Award at the 23rd annual ESPY Award last year.

This announcement will definitely add more gigs to Cena’s robust resume.
The 24th annual ESPY Award will be broadcast live on ABC. Date is ET on July 13 and time is 8 p.m.
