On RAW, Roman Reigns announced that he’s battling leukemia again before relequishing the WWE Universal Championship title. WWE issued the below statement on Reigns.
“Tonight on Monday Night Raw, Roman Reigns (aka Joe Anoa’i) announced that he is relinquishing the WWE Universal Championship and taking a leave of absence from WWE as he once again fights leukemia, which had been in remission since late 2008. Reigns is taking his battle with leukemia public in an effort to raise awareness and funds for research in order to advance cures for the disease.”
The wrestling community were left shocked as Roman Reign announced that he will have to step down due to cancer. WWE star Roman Reigns has revealed that he has been diagnosed with cancer on Monday, October 22.
Roman Reigns had to give up to Universal Championship after he announced to that his battle with Leukaemia has returned after an 11-year absence.
Now, 33-years-old and a father of three children, the announcement from Roman came as a shock to the crowd with Seth Rollins in tears at Newark, New Jersey.

Despite being a champion in the ring, Roman disclosed that his biggest battle was outside the ring with cancer. Roman Reigns’s shield brothers Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose were left devastated at the announcement and him giving up his title.

Roman Reigns who fought Brock Lesnar at the WWE Hell In A Cell 2018 has called time on his career.
He said, “My real name is Joe and I have been living with leukaemia for 11 years.
“Unfortunately it is back and because the leukaemia is back I cannot fulfil my role, I can’t be that fighting champion and I’m going to have to relinquish the WWE Universal Championship.
“I’ll take every prayer you can send my way but I’m not looking for sympathy, I’m not looking for you to feel bad for me, I have faith.
“When I was 22 years old I was diagnosed with this and very quickly I was able to put it in remission, but I’m not going to lie that was the hardest time of my life.
“I didn’t have job, I didn’t have any money, I didn’t have a home and I had the baby on the way. And football was done with me. But you want to know who gave me a chance?
“The team which gave me a chance was the WWE”
He announced that the leukemia is expected to keep him out of action indefinitely with his colleagues showering him with praise as he left the ring. Leukaemia is known to be the cancer of the blood and Reigns is expected to face a heavy battle to recover from the setback.
Concerned supporters took to social media to wish the wrestling superstar well as he probably has fought his last fight in the ring.
