Road Warrior Animal issues official statement on Sting being a “Legend”… says, Sting NOT a legend”

The Road Warriors were one of the greatest tag teams in history and have left their invariable mark in professional wrestling. The Road Warrior Animal said Sting is not in the same league as guys like Triple H, Stone Cold, The Rock.

Since the passing of Road Warrior Hawk (Michael Hegstrand) in 2003, Road Warrior Animal (Joe Laurinaitis) attempted to carry on the legacy of The Road Warriors with other pro wrestlers when he was employed with the WWE.

Sting Character Transformation

In the past, Animal has commented on various aspects of the NWA and WCW, but in a recent interview with KFAN Sports Radio, Animal was asked about former NWA and WCW World Champion Sting.

Here are some of the comments he made about Sting:

Animal on teaming with Sting: “The NWA was looking for a spot for Sting and I said make him a brother in paint and then Sting joined us (Road Warriors) in our six-man matches.”

Animal on whether Sting should be called an icon: “No! Sting is not in the same league as guys like Triple H, Stone Cold, The Rock. Sting will never be considered a legend or icon until he lets his pride go.

“He needs to bury his personal issues with WWE and Vince McMahon. Sting could do a big match with The Undertaker in the future. Then, it’ would be a bigger and a perfect stage. Impact is one thing, the WWE is a way bigger thing and a dream match with The Undertaker is one of the biggest things Sting needs in his career.”

It stands to reason that Animal has a bias against Sting because he may not never work for the WWE again following his recent signing with All Elite Wrestling.

Many wrestling fans would disagree with Animal and concur that Sting is an icon in professional wrestling as a whole, even though he may never sets foot in the WWE ring again to do any dream match with whosoever.

It seems that Animal wants to remain in the good graces of the WWE by burying Sting because he (Sting) has now started working for the competition, AEW.
