AJ Styles has been one of the most exciting indie talents to join the WWE in recent years. Since his arrival, he built SmackDown Live into an exciting brand to watch.
He recently joined his Club brothers again too, which has delivered some exciting television. Unfortunately, we may not see AJ Styles for much longer.
AJ Styles Has Signed His Last Contract
The retirement plans of AJ Styles are not just a rumor, they are words that came from the wrestler’s mouth. During an interview on Lilian Garcia’s Chasing Glory, Styles mentioned he wants his career to end at the WWE and that he has no intention of signing another contract.
AJ Styles Says His Career Will End After This Contract ‘No Matter What Happens’
“I had no doubt that you know this is what I was going to do for my career. It really was. And you couldn’t have told me any different. And I can tell you that the contract that I signed, here in the WWE, is my last. This is it for me. This is where I’m going to end my career no matter what happens. I got to, you know? I want to be there for my kids.”
AJ Styles didn’t say anything about not signing a Legend’s contract which could keep him within the WWE Universe for decades to come. It would also keep royalty checks coming in from WWE.
This isn’t anything new though because he has stated in the past that he doesn’t plan on signing a new contract. That also rules out a possible AEW run if he sticks to his guns.
AJ Styles Compared To Other WWE Stars
Compared to some of the other wrestlers on the roster, Styles is no longer one of the youngest. Therefore, it is no surprise that he is considering retirement. He also has a bunch of kids running around at home, so taking it a little easier is something that most of us would consider after a lengthy wrestling career.
In his statement, AJ Styles mentioned that the last contract he signed in the WWE will be the last, but that does not necessarily rule out a veteran deal in the future. A veteran deal could mean he only appears every now and again, and has the rest of his time free to spend with his family.
